FAMILY HARMONY

Family Harmony Working Party

Strengthening Generations is a project that targets key issues that put young people at risk. Strategies based on evidence are put in place to reduce that risk and work with the community to create change. One key risk factor is family conflict.

The Strengthening Generations Family Harmony Working Party has been formed to address family conflict with the following aims:

  • promoting family harmony in and by the community
  • collection of evidence to support and/or establish positive relationships programs and forums
  • self esteem building programs

Current Projects:

  • The Project Harmony is a way of getting messages into the community about family harmony. Post-cards were chosen so that people can send the information around to family members or friends to promote messages of harmony. They could be a conversation starter and inform discussions about how communities can support families and tackle family conflict.

The Build Good Memories card is the first in a series of cards that aims to build awareness. Young people, young parents, and community groups of all ages and different backgrounds will be invited to contribute to developing messages and images for the cards.
  • Family Harmony Schools Project: The Family Harmony cards inspired local schools to get involved in promoting the messages of family harmony within the context of other programs they operate. Wendouree Primary School as part of their Healthy Habits Week 7 - 11 May 2007, was the first school to have a Building Family Harmony Day on 8 May 2007.
