Councils Planning Enforcement Officer will investigate complaints or reports of breeches to the Ballarat Planning Scheme, conditions on a planning permit, or a Section 173 agreement when reported either in writing, over the counter, or by telephone. Such breeches may include, illegal works without a planning permit, businesses operating without a planning permit, native vegetation removal, home occupations or signage etc.

Appropriate letters, notices, enforcement orders, cancellation of planning permits or even prosecution can result from these notifications, and in extreme circumstances, court action and substantial fines can result.

Complaints are conducted with complete anonymity and are held under the strictest confidence with no personal information held or used in the investigation disclosed.
