Council Meetings

Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Town Hall (cnr Sturt and Armstrong Street South, Ballarat) and commence at 7.00pm. Agendas, minutes and meetings dates are available under "About Council".

 


Tenders

The City of Ballarat utilises an electronic tender listing system.   This system speeds up the tendering cycle and reduces the time and costs for both City of Ballarat and suppliers. To use this system and to access the tenders being called you must first be a registered Supplier.

City of Ballarat wishes to invite organisations to bid for the supply of goods and/or services contained within this system.  As a registered supplier, you can receive email notification of any new tenders we publish, download and view the documentation electronically, and participate in forums to seek clarification or to ask questions.  Where available, submission of your bids can be completed through the e-tender box facility.

Works

Location of Works: Sturt Street, Raglan Street to Errard Street, south side. 

Proposed Works:  Footpath Reconstruction ,Bluestone Kerb and Channel Works.

Duration: Monday 4TH August 2014  to Friday 22ND  August 2014


Location of Works: Howard Street, Grant Street to Edwards Street.  

Proposed Works:  Road Reconstruction , Kerb and Channel Works

Duration: Monday 18TH August 2014  to Friday 12TH  September 2014

To minimise traffic disruption, traffic is encouraged to use alternative routes where possible, as full and partial road closures will be in place during phases of the works.  Motorists are requested to approach the area with caution and to observe all warning and directional signage.  Inconvenience will be kept to a minimum and your co-operation during this period would be appreciated.

 

Notice of Intention To Grant Lease

The City of Ballarat hereby gives notice under Section 190 of the Local Government Act 1989 (“the Act”) of its intention to grant a lease to The Department of Treasury and Finance at 303 Gillies Street North, Wendouree, first floor (site indicated in red on the map below), with terms and conditions including the following:-

  • The term of the lease shall be for 3 years;
  • Further terms and conditions contained in the lease document can be obtained by contacting Councils Property Manager Darren Sadler 53205500.

Written submissions relating to the proposed lease will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act and must be received by the Property Department, City ofBallarat, PO Box 655, Ballarat, Vic. 3350, within 28 days of this notice.

Any person requesting to be heard in support of their written submission is entitled to appear in person or by a person acting on their behalf before a committee of Council, the day, time and place of which will be advised.

DECLARATION OF BOATING ACTIVITY EXEMPTION

I, David Lewis, Lakes Management and Events Officer of City of Ballarat, the waterway manager for Lake Wendouree, declare under section 203(3) of theMarine Safety Act 2010(Vic) that competitors in the Victorian Canoe Association Inc (Canoeing Victoria) Australian Canoe Marathon Championships on 18 to 20 April 2014 are exempt from:

  • Regulation 96(6) of theMarine Safety Regulations 2012in respect to the requirements to carry a PFD; and
  • Regulation 100(3) of theMarine Safety Regulations 2012in respect to the requirement to wear a PFD.

This exemption does not apply to:

  • Juniors under 16 years of age
  • Less than competent swimmers (based on competitor self-assessment)
  • Beginner and novice paddlers (based on competitor self-assessment)
  • Participants with a medical condition that may affect their kayaking ability and increase the chance of capsize or limit their ability to swim.

Vessels providing rescue services in the event are exempt from the requirements of:

  • Schedule 42.1 of the Notice under section 15(2) of theMarine Act 1988(Vic)in relation to the five (5) knot speed restriction applicable to vessels equipped with engines used for propulsion.

These exemptions apply from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm on Friday 18 April, Saturday 19 April and Sunday 20 April 2014 on the waters of Lake Wendouree provided that the stated safety controls and undertakings detailed in the Application for Boating Activity Exemptions and Exclusion Zones and Risk Management Plan, are adhered to.
