City of Ballarat Traffic Officers will resume normal duties from next Tuesday June 14, following the lifting of union work bans.
As part of protected action during the recent enterprise bargaining negotiations, parking meter fines were not issued by Traffic officers.
Traffic officers have continued to issue fines for all other areas during this period to keep the city moving and protect pedestrians.
Traffic Officers will resume normal enforcement duties after the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
City of Ballarat acting chief executive officer Eric Braslis said this would provide the community with a period of notice before Traffic Officers return to normal duties.
“Throughout this process both management and unions have been committed to ensuring residents were not adversely affected by work bans,”’ Mr Braslis said.
“Residents may not be aware that things have now returned to normal, so we want to make sure everyone is on the same page before Traffic Officers start regular patrols again.”
“From next week, motorists should take care, check parking signs and comply with all parking restrictions to make sure they do not attract a fine.”
An in-principle agreement between council management and unions was reached last week following mediation at Fair Work Australia.
