Over $100,000 of upgrades have been completed as part of the City of Ballarat’s latest round of facility renewal projects.
And there’s more to come - City of Ballarat Mayor Craig Fletcher said facility renewal projects will continue over the coming year with just over $1 million allocated towards these in the 2011/12 Council budget.
“Halls and other similar facilities are a vital part of our communities, particularly the smaller ones.”
“We’d been hearing from residents that these particular facilities were in need of some work so we responded”.
The floor at the Buninyong Town Hall has been completed, with locally sourced white mahogany replacing the existing timber. The replacement of the floor provided the perfect opportunity for new audio visual and power points to be installed. The existing stage will be replaced in the coming month.
Stage two works at the Miners Rest Community Hall were completed in June. The middle section of the hall received new plaster, paint and windows. New coat hooks and ceiling insulation were also installed. Stage one of the project was carried out in 2010 and involved an upgrade of the hall’s supper room.
The deteriorated roof of the Sebastopol Hall has been replaced with a new one, remedying the ongoing issue of leaks.
Renewal works have been undertaken on toilets at Lake Esmond and the LT Fraser Reserve. All external and internal wall cladding was replaced, after several years of repeated graffiti attacks significantly deteriorated the amenity of the facility. New materials will improve the ability to remove any future graffiti occurrences.
