Ballarat Ballet Centre and Lifeline Ballarat have joined forces to participate in the 2012 The Courier Begonia Parade thanks to the support of Ballarat’s Beechworth Bakery.

The three organisations, will base their float on the classic nursery rhyme “The old woman who lives in the shoe”. Their interpretation will carry the theme that an old woman lived in a shoe had so many children that she didn’t know what to do, so she called Life Line!

Their float will aim to build awareness of “Family Stress Down Day”, an initiative of Lifeline, held in July every year. The day aims to reduce the burden of stress on our community and encourages people to have fun with their colleagues, friends and family to reduce stress levels.

The funds provided by sponsor Beechworth Bakery, as part of the floating synergy initiative, will enable Ballarat Ballet Centre and Lifeline to create their float for the parade.

Ballarat Ballet Centre Director Justine Morris said they are thrilled to join forces with Lifeline and be associated this important message.

“We both share a belief that by living a healthy active life we can reduce stress amongst adults and children alike.

Following on from the popular introduction of the award categories in 2011, the Mayor’s Choice, Best Schools Entry, Best Community Entry, Best Business Entry and Best Musical Entry (new category) awards, awards will again be presented in 2012.

The 60th anniversary of the Ballarat Begonia Festival will be held from 10 -12 March, 2012. The Courier Begonia Parade will take place on Monday 13 March at 11am along Wendouree Parade.
