In an attempt to keep Ballarat’s young people from getting bored this January, Council’s Youth Services’ BYou team is offering another three drawcard events as part of the ‘Boredom Breaker’ program.
Today (18/01) from 2 – 6pm, there is a unique opportunity for young people to meet some of Ballarat’s talented chef’s to learn how to make three delicious meals.
Tomorrow, Thursday 19 January, from 2 – 6pm, young people will love challenging themselves and their friends with a series of ‘minute to win it’ games.
To cap off another busy ‘Boredom Breaker’ week, BYou is calling for people with a creative flair to join in the ‘Alley Art-Attack’ on Friday 20 January from 2 – 6pm.
This is a fun opportunity for Ballarat’s young community to get messy and help decorate the alley near the Space with some unique artwork. There will be a sausage sizzle at the Space as part of the activity.
City of Ballarat Portfolio Councillor People and Communities John Philips says the Boredom Breaker program of events have been a tremendous success and a great initiative to attract new people to the Space.
“The Boredom Breaker events that have taken place already this month have been very well attended and what’s particularly exciting is that there have been many new faces.”
“BYou offers fantastic events and activities across the whole year and it’s great that the Boredom Breakers have attracted some new faces; young people who will hopefully develop a strong friendship with our Youth Services team in the future.”
All ‘Boredom Breaker’ events are free of charge and are held at or leave from The Space, 122 Armstrong St South. People aged between 12 and 25 years can participate. ‘Boredom Breaker’ events are offered in a friendly environment where people will be able to make new friends, have fun, learn new skills and get involved in their community.
