Ballarat West Employment Zone Master Plan submissions close this week

Ballarat residents have their final opportunity to provide input into the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) Master Plan this week.

The BWEZ Master Plan is a long-term, 20-year plan that will unlock land for industry to ensure quality infrastructure and jobs are available for Ballarat’s rapidly growing population.

When fully delivered, it is expected to create up to 9,030 jobs and generate $5 billion in economic output per annum.

City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Mark Harris said the draft Master Plan for the project was currently on public exhibition.

“Residents have until noon this Friday 20 January to make submissions on the draft. They can find all the information on how to do this on our website or by calling our Customer Service centre”.

“The final community information session was held today and gave residents who wished to ask any further questions before they complete their submission the chance to do so”.

“It’s important that residents are involved in the Master Planning process to ensure we capture all the opportunities and constraints this project presents”.

Members of the public who were unable to attend the ‘drop in’ session today but would like to speak to Council Officers about the project are encouraged to call the BWEZ Project Team to arrange a one-on-one meeting.

For more information on BWEZ, visit Council’s website www.ballarat.vic.gov.au  or call and speak to a member of the BWEZ Project Team on 5320 5848.

The BWEZ project is supported by the Victorian Government.
