Thursday, January 12, 2012, 12:00 AM

To celebrate the 2012 National Year of Reading, City of Ballarat Library Services is running a range of events throughout the year, the first of which kicks off on Saturday 11 February.

The Writers' Workshop is one of many activities scheduled to take place in 2012.

Award winning children's author Phil Kettle, who has written over 150 books, is joined by author Susan Halliday to run this Writers' Workshop for people interested in planning and writing stories for children.

These two successful authors will help Ballarat's aspiring writers' turn ideas into wonderful children's stories that are ready to publish.

The Workshop will be held in the Industry Training Centre at Brace Ballarat, 204 Windermere St on Saturday 11 February from 10am to 2.30pm, a light lunch will be provided. To ensure that writers' get the most out of the day, the workshop is limited to 50 people and costs $75 per person.

Attendants will need to bring a notebook, pens, highlighters and their imagination!
