Town Hall Fresh Produce Market to celebrate Chinese New Year

The first Town Hall Fresh Produce Market for 2011 will celebrate the beginning of the Chinese New Year – Year of the Rabbit.

The Town Hall Fresh Produce Market will be held this Saturday, 5 February between 9am and 1pm in Armstrong Street South, between the Town Hall and Myer.

With support from the Chinese Australian Cultural Society of Ballarat Inc, there will be range of exciting Chinese activities and performances on offer on the day.

Activities will include Chinese lantern making, Chinese paper cutting, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, translation station (have your name translated into Chinese) and Chinese riddle lanterns.

Entertainment will feature Chinese Tai Chi, Chinese Folk Song, Chinese Traditional Music, Kon Fu Fan Dance, Lion Dance and more.

In addition to the Chinese activities and entertainment there will be approximately 30 marquees that will feature a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, conserves and specialty products.
