Road reconstruction works a success

Major reconstruction works on Norman St have recently been completed.

The project, which commenced in October, has reduced the crest through the existing cutting by approximately one metre. Significant quartz reefs were encountered during the earthworks.

Ballarat based civil construction contractor, Pipecon, carried out the works on behalf of Council.

City of Ballarat Growth and Development portfolio Councillor Noel Perry said the works had improved site distances at the Botanic Drive intersection.

“Residents in the area and users of Norman Street and the intersection with Botanic Drive will really notice the improvement that’s been made by this reconstruction”.

Reconstruction works have now begun on Longs Hill Road.

These works include the installation of underground drainage valued at approximately $450,000 and are being undertaken by civil construction contractors Bitu Mill P/L.

The drainage works are expected to be completed by Christmas with road works to follow in mid-January.
