Research on the Ballarat community’s views on the future for the Civic Hall building and 300 Mair Street site will commence on Monday 12 December 2011.
The City of Ballarat have appointed Roy Morgan Research to undertake a survey in the Ballarat community following Cr Taylor’s Motion on Wednesday 23 November 2011.
The Motion called for research to understand the community’s views on three main areas:
- the current proposal by Council to redevelop the site and build a Council facility and car parking
- retaining the Civic Hall building
- or demolishing the Civic Hall building and identifying an alternative development that does not involve a Council building
Residents can expect to be contacted over the next two weeks and the survey will take around three minutes to complete.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Mark Harris said this is an opportunity for the community to provide Council with greater clarity about their views on the future for the building and the site.
“If you do get a call, we would really appreciate you taking the time to answer the researcher’s questions”.
“We acknowledge that it’s a busy time of the year and the researchers will endeavour to complete the survey rapidly and will cease survey work prior to Christmas”.
Roy Morgan will interview a cross section of the community to provide Council with responses from four hundred residents. Roy Morgan Research will also undertake two focus groups on behalf of Council. The research will be completed prior to Christmas and a report will be provided back to Council in late January 2012.
