Residents in the Montogomery St, Wendouree precinct will have a chance to share their ideas for the redevelopment of their local playspace tomorrow.

City of Ballarat officers will be on site at the Montgomery St Reserve at 4pm tomorrow to speak with residents about possibilities for the playspace, pathways and other works.

Cr Des Hudson said the ‘Walk and Talk’ session would ensure that residents had ownership over the finished product.

‘This park is a community space so we think it’s only fair that the community contributes their thoughts on what goes in it and what goes where’.

‘We want to make sure that we finish with a space that will be well attended and well looked after and these community conversations are an important part of making that happen’.

Council officers are also working with Learmonth residents on the development of a new children’s playspace and youth activity space on the south east corner of the Learmonth Recreation Reserve.

Tenders for provision of the equipment for this space have now closed and options will be presented to the community sub-committee next week.

Each year, Council spends $250,000 on community playspaces.

The Learmonth and Montgomery St projects are estimated for completion by December 2011.
