Do you know of an individual or group whose actions have helped to improve the safety of our community? The annual ‘Ballarat, a safe city’ Community Safety Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge and reward efforts by local people and organisations.
Nominations are now open for the 2011 City of Ballarat Community Safety Awards and are welcomed by individuals, organisations and groups in the following categories:
- Partnerships
- Community Strengthening
- Urban Design for Safe and Healthy Environments
- Safer Roads, Access and Movement
- Alcohol Related Harm
- Family Violence Prevention.
Entries should focus on one or more of the following:
- Reduction of crime
- Injury prevention
- Enhancing positive perceptions of safety
- Community building
- Active citizenship and participation
City of Ballarat Portfolio Councillor for People and Communities and Ballarat Community Safety Advisory Committee Chair Des Hudson said the Ballarat Community Safety Awards provided an opportunity to publicly recognise the hard work of many of our dedicated local organisations and individuals.
“This is our chance to say a well-earned thank you to the many local community groups who help to ensure the safety of our community.
“We encourage the whole community to take the time to nominate a worthy individual or group for their fine efforts.”
The Community Safety Awards are an initiative of the City of Ballarat’s ‘Ballarat, a safe city’ Community Safety Advisory Committee and have been developed to recognise people and projects that have improved safety and made an invaluable contribution towards safety within the municipality.
Nominations for the 2011 Ballarat Community Safety Awards close at 5pm, Friday, 30 September. Nomination forms are available at Council’s website www.ballarat.vic.gov.au or from Council’s Customer Service Centre, The Phoenix, 25 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat.
