It is illegal to dump materials on public land. This includes any type of domestic or industrial refuse, building materials, car bodies, rubbish or greenwaste including grass clippings.Illegal dumping represents a significant problem for Council and residents alike as money and resources which could be used to enhance the city is needed to clean up these deliberate acts of vandalism.
Council staff spend between 300 to 500 hours cleaning up deliberately dumped material at a cost of approximately $35,000 each year.
