Lake Foundation

The Lake Foundation is a not-for-profit community-based incorporated organisation established in 2002 by the late Matt Jamieson. Its formation was the result of the identification of challenges facing Lake Wendouree that would require funding, community awareness and support. The group was formed to assist in the implementation of the Lake Wendouree Master Plan, commissioned in 1994 by the Ballarat City Council.
The Lake Wendouree Master Plan will rejuvenate visitor facilities, protect environmental and aesthetic values, improve passive and social recreation pursuits for residents and create high standard tourism linkages to increase the tourism and events potential to Ballarat. We also aim to lobby and liaise with other stakeholder and community groups that will contribute to the advancement of our cause.

The Lake Foundation is not affiliated with any other corporate or government group for personal, political or business gain. All members have a passion for Lake Wendouree and the implementation of the Master Plan.

  • The unveiling of the Lake Wendouree Precinct Master Plan document and launch of the community Lake Blitz Stage one
  • The combined Rotary Clubs of Ballarat and Ballan headed by Darren Trigg from Rotary Ambition, together with the City of Ballarat and other community and corporate organisations have come together to see the implementation of the Fairyland Stage 1, Piper on the Parade, the Promenade and Swan Pool area, which was celebrated in June 2006 with a thank you and turning on of the lights ceremony at Pipers on the Parade
  • The Lake Foundation was successful in securing a Project Specific Objective submitted to the Committee of Ballarat for the Implementation of the Lake Wendouree Masterplan. A partnership with the City of Ballarat, Lake Foundation and the Committee for Ballarat was formed under the banner 'Lake Blitz' chaired by Cr David Vendy and is now actively seeking sponsorship, grants and community support for the implementation of the Lake Wendouree Masterplan at a cost of $3.24 million
