A Tree Management Plan has been developed to:
- acknowledge the important role Trees play in our lives and environment
- provide a framework for the protection and enhancement of street, roadside parkland and private Trees in the municipality of Ballarat
- provide a clearly defined and consistent approach to the way the City of Ballarat manages tree issues
- assist the City of Ballarat in determining priorities for tree programs and works
Specific principles and policies have been formulated for how the City of Ballarat deals with:
tree management- risk identification and mitigation
- tree inspections and assessments
- tree selection and planting
- tree removal
- tree protection
- infrastructure protection
- electric line clearance
- tree maintenance
- environmental and community imperatives
- pest and disease control
- significant trees
