Maternal & Child Health Care - Ballarat North

Ballarat's Maternal and Child Health Care Centres provide a FREE service for families with infants and children aged from birth to four years. The service promotes the health and well-being of families through support, information and health promotion, as well as early identification and intervention for health concerns. The centres are staffed by Division One Registered nurses, who are also midwives with a diploma or degree in maternal and child health nursing.

Features of the service include monitoring of the health, growth and development of babies and pre-school children at particular Key Visits - Ages & Stages.

Parents will also receive support and information on a variety of issues including:

  • infant feeding
  • settling techniques
  • normal development
  • nutrition
  • parental health and wellbeing
  • emotional support
  • immunisation

Maternal and Child Health services are an excellent referral point for a variety of other services. Each centre also facilitates new parent groups and can assist with the facilitation of other groups as the need arises.

The Ballarat North Maternal and Child Health Centre is open for consultations (by appointment only) from Monday to Thursday, 9.00am to 4.00pm (excluding public holidays).
