Overview
The supported respite program is fully funded by Council and is provided to families with children aged from birth to six years. Generally a written referral from a maternal and child health nurse or medical person is required, although depending on circumstances, self referral is acceptable.
The program offers short-term childcare to families experiencing stress or illness. All staff are qualified and have police checks, and first aid and asthma training.
Parents may use the time to take a break and have some 'time-out' such as attending appointments, walking the lake or going for a swim. The time is for the parent(s) to choose what they would feel is most beneficial.
Hours and Cost
Care is provided over a six week period for three hours each week (see table for session times). Care is provided in the family's home and the primary focus is to attend to the childrens' needs and to offer a range of suitable activities and experiences.
