HOON Hotline

Red car doing burn outHelp reduce the number of hoons on Ballarat's roads by reporting them to the City of Ballarat's new toll free HOON Hotline. The hotline is a 24 hour a day, seven day a week service for you to call and report careless, irresponsible and dangerous driving in the Ballarat region.

The HOON Hotline is a road safety initiative of the City of Ballarat and Victoria Police.

How to use the HOON Hotline

If you witness drag racing, burnouts, or any other form of careless driving at any time of the day or night, report it to the HOON Hotline as follows:

  1. Dial the toll free HOON Hotline 1800 11 HOON (phone 1800 11 4666). Advise the operator if you wish to remain anonymous
  2. Provide the operator with as many details as possible such as:
  • Hoon Hotline 1800 11 HOONdate
  • time
  • location
  • registration number
  • make, model and colour of the vehicle
  • any identifying features of the vehicle and/or driver
  • a description of what you witnessed

The information you supply will be collated in a database and used to identify repeat offenders and hotspots for irresponsible driving behaviours.
