Footpaths

Council uses a prioritisation process to strategically determine sites for new footpaths. This process uses specific criteria including the expected volume of pedestrians and the type of area, for example, school areas and shopping precincts.

In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), Council, in conjunction with VicRoads, continually increase the amount of tactile ground surface indicators (bumpy panels in footpaths) across the municipality. These facilities are used on footpaths to inform members of the community that they are near an obstacle, such as an intersection or step.
