Economic Development Strategy 2006

The City of Ballarat 2006 Economic Development Strategy 2006 (PDF) (PDF - 728KB) was formally adopted by Council on 27 September 2006.

Principle
The 2006 Strategy sets a framework for the future development of the economy in the City of Ballarat, to grow jobs and investment, as well as to encourage sustainability and responsible development.

Consultation
The Strategy was developed after an intensive process of consultation with a variety of stakeholders including business groups, industry associations, the community and their representatives, Council staff, local government and individual business owners.

Strategic Themes
The Strategys eight strategic themes are:

  1. Population growth and migration
  2. Employment and skills development
  3. Business and industry development
  4. Export, trade and investment
  5. Manufacturing development
  6. Infrastructure and land availability
  7. Business support and facilitation
  8. Leadership and communication
