Who Can Use the Home Maintenance Service?

The Home Maintenance Service is co-ordinated by Council to assist you to maintain a safe and secure home by providing minor repairs and general maintenance.

 

Home maintenance tasks can include:

  • Urgent repairs, i.e. leaking toilet or tap
  • Installing hand rails, hand showers, bath seats and ramps (requests for ramps or rails to be installed will require a referral from an Occupational Therapist)
  • Fitting or repairing door and window locks
  • Replacing wire screens
  • Fitting tap washers
  • Fitting smoke alarms/Key Locks
  • Clearing guttering and sprouting.

Work which would normally be carried out by a tradesman (i.e. electrical, plumbing, gardening) cannot be done by the Home Maintenance service.

Contact the Intake Worker at Aged and Disability Services on 03 5320 5629.

What Will it Cost?

Home Maintenance Services are government funded through the Home & Community Care (HACC) Program and are available to eligible clients. Fees are determined by a means test. This will be discussed with you by the Assessment Worker.
